COURSE

Code of Conduct

In accordance with Rule 1.2b, the Competition Committee of R.C.G. Castiello has established this Code of Conduct, which outlines the essential standards of behavior expected from players at our Club.

The Code of Conduct, where applicable, also applies to a player's caddie. As such, the player may be penalized for actions committed by their caddie during the competition.

The following are considered violations of the Code of Conduct and may result in penalties:

  • Failing to care for the course, including not raking bunkers, not repairing pitch marks, not replacing divots, removing the ball from the hole with a putter, or scraping the green when marking the ball.
  • Improper use of trolleys and golf carts. Carts may not pass over aprons, bunkers, between bunkers and greens, teeing areas, or any other area marked as restricted. Golf carts must remain on designated paths or, where there are none, in the rough, minimizing their presence on fairways.
  • Entering or playing from a no-play zone as defined in the local rules or otherwise marked, except to retrieve a ball or other equipment.
  • Use of unacceptable language (profanity, insults, rude or offensive words).
  • Throwing or abusing clubs, bags, or any other part of a player’s equipment, as well as intentionally damaging the course.
  • Disrespect toward other players, club staff, referees, or spectators.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct or any behavior not in keeping with the standards of etiquette and behavior described in Rule 1.2a of the Rules of Golf.

Unless the severity of the situation warrants a harsher penalty, the following progression will apply:

  • First offense: Verbal warning
  • Second offense: One-stroke penalty
  • Third offense: General penalty
  • Stroke Play: 2-stroke penalty
  • Match Play: Loss of hole
  • Fourth offense: Disqualification

Note: Warnings or penalties issued under the Code of Conduct during a round will carry over for the remainder of the round and until the end of the tournament or championship.

The Competition Committee will serve as the final authority in applying the above-mentioned penalties, enforcing the Code of Conduct through the corresponding Local Rule, which will apply throughout the course of play.

(Examples of serious misconduct can be found in Interpretation 1.2a/1 of the Rules of Golf).
